Sustainable materials for Green Future

Business sustainability is the practice of operating a business without having a negative influence on the environment. For this reason, we’re going to give you a list of 6 sustainable materials to look out for. So you can choose the proper sustainable items for a green future.

What are Sustainable materials?

Sustainable materials are those that can be produced in the necessary quantities for usage throughout our consumer and industrial economies without depleting non-renewable resources or upsetting the environment’s and significant natural resource systems’ established steady-state balance or making a green future. For instance, with properly planned tree cutting for wood production. The forest can continue to grow new trees at a rate that can meet the demand for wood products.

3 Types of Sustainable Materials

There are 3 types of eco-friendly materials:

Natural Materials

In nature, we can find a variety of green materials. They are naturally occurring and, unlike synthetic or man-made materials, we can dispose of them safely. For example wood, and seagrass…

Renewable Materials

A substance generated from natural resources that can be replenished generation after generation

Harmless and Non-toxic Materials

Choosing non-toxic alternatives makes the material sustainable for a green future, even if it is man-made. Because numerous materials, natural and synthetic, are really harmful to people, animals, and the environment.

Why are sustainable materials Important in Business?

The “Great Pacific Garbage Patch” illustrates the importance how crucial it is for corporations to place a high priority on a green future. A floating island of plastic is about 1.6 million square kilometers in size in the Pacific Ocean. It is about twice the size of Texas, according to the scientific journal Environmental Sustainability.

If businesses don’t act responsibly as members of the global community, a huge species will not survive past the 21st century. “The human-caused rate of extinction of species of both plants and animals at present is hundreds of times higher than the natural rate in the past,” Environmental Sustainability notes. Now is the right time for businesses to join the effort, reduce emissions and waste, and help create a planet that is habitable.

In the wake of the Green Future movement, Based on its current abundance of sustainable resources, Vietnam is promoting sustainability. Viettime Craft is a Vietnamese Handicraft Manufacturer using green materials to promote sustainability.

Viettime Craft’s sustainable materials

Bamboo

Bamboo plants are found all over Vietnam, both grow naturally and are cultivated in highlands and delta areas. But especially in the Northern provinces of Vietnam such as Thanh Hoa, Son La, Yen Bai, Ninh Binh, Tuyen Quang provinces.

Bamboo is the fastest growing plant, we can harvest it every 3-5 years, one of the most eco-friendly materials. We use this to make a lot of products like bamboo kitchen utensils, storage baskets, lampshades,…

Seagrass

This kind of grass, as the name implies, grows or submerges in rivers and lakes. We usually dry this eco-friendly material, then weave it into strands as raw material for handicraft production. That’s why, despite being a thin and light material, craftsmen can create a wide range of items with different values, purposes, and shapes. Seagrass is the most widely utilized material for the fashion and interior design industries nowadays.

Water Hyacinth

The water hyacinth is a large free-floating plant that lives all over the world in warm, slowly flowing tropical and subtropical waterways.

Both water hyacinth and seagrass are non-toxic and biodegradable, which is meaningful for a green future. Although these sustainable materials are not as tough as rattan or bamboo, they are soft, elastic, and flexible when woven.

Rattan

These plants are difficult to cultivate, people frequently gather these plants from the wild. They have a similar appearance to bamboo and sugarcane. Rattan is regarded as among the most costly non-timber green materials.

Rattan furniture appears to be rather old, but in recent years it has become a popular trend. This material will bring harmony, unity, and eco- eco-friendly atmosphere into your space, including the living room, bedroom, kitchen, balcony, and even the garden…

Lacquer

Lacquer is a type of hard and shiny coating or finishes applied to materials like wood or metal. This eco-friendly material is highly functional, biodegradable, having high strength and antibacterial action. We usually use lacquer for making boxes, trays, vases, and utensils.

Coconut

One of the most useful trees in the world, as the tree of life, coconut provides food, fuel, cosmetics, folk medicine and building materials, and many other uses.

Our signature products of sustainable materials are coconut bowls for kitchen utensils. Handmade production processes from environmentally friendly coconut shell materials. Consumers using coconut bowls have been contributing to protecting individual health, protecting the environment, and working together for a civilized and developed community.

Our Commitment to Caring for the Green Future

Respect for the environment – a green future is one of the World Fair Trade Organization’s 10 Principles of Fair Trade. We’re all about it (along with opportunities for fair payment, no discrimination, good working conditions, and opportunities for disadvantaged craftsmen).

In addition to focusing on the use of sustainable materials, such as rattan, seagrass, water hyacinth,… In our products, we also support creative reuse and energy efficiency in artisan workshops and our supply chain to reduce our environmental impact.
